Welcome to Chestnut Lane School

A Welcome Message by Headteacher Mrs. Christine Plimsaul

Our school takes in 60 pupils each year, making two classes of 30. We take children into our nursery the term after they are four, and they join the main school in the term they have their fifth birthday.

The school also runs an Afternoon Club providing activities for those who attend part-time (i.e. nursery and early reception). Here, parents can choose to pay for afternoon care and lunch in school. For complete "wraparound care" we also have the Woodlands Day Nursery on site. They will take children from two and a half years to four years. They open from 8am - 6pm daily. They are also happy to provide care from 8am - 9am and 3pm - 6pm for pupils of school age.

The motto for our school is "Learning and Growing Together". It is a safe, happy environment, with a strong anti-bullying policy. We encourage confidence and self-esteem with circle time and PSHE lessons. Our children enjoy performing for assemblies and productions, and the curriculum provides a rich and varied experience. We have extra curricular activities such as yoga, French, dance, choir and football coaching, and staff enjoy a regular keep-fit session one lunch-time.
The school is set in beautiful grounds, where each class has its own patch of garden to tend. All early years classes have their own outdoor play area. We recycle paper and have a fruit/vegetable composter where we recycle waste from healthy snacks.
I hope you will enjoy reading the various articles and seeing the children's contributions on this website.
